Northern Comdr, GOC Leh also join

JAMMU, July 29: Winding up his four-day visit to the Union Territory of Ladakh, Army chief Gen Manoj Pande called on Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Brig (Retd) B D Mishra at Raj Niwas Leh and discussed with him the situation prevailing along Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh.
Northern Command chief Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi and General Officer Commanding (GOC) Leh-based 14 Corps Lt Gen Rashim Bali accompanied the Army chief during meeting with the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
Situation prevailing along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh is reported to have prominently figured in the meeting, the sources said.
A tweet by the Office of Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh said the Chief of Army Staff General Manoj C Pande called on Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Brig (Retd) B D Mishra.
“They discussed a range of topics pertaining to the Line of Actual Control defence and general security,” another tweet said.
Army chief Gen Manoj Pande was in the Union Territory of Ladakh for four days during which he attended Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations at Drass along with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Service chiefs and other Army Commanders. Later, he visited Siachen Glacier, the highest battlefield in the world, 14 Corps headquarters in Leh and forward areas along LAC in Eastern Ladakh to review prevailing situation and preparedness of the troops.
The Chief of Army Staff has returned to New Delhi.
