After the recoveries, Army and SOG conducted searches in Puneja forests. However, no arrests were made. The search operation was still on.
Army and SOG destroyed the hideout of the militants.
Mr Chouhan said the weaponry appeared to be an old dump of the militants.
“The hideout was sited next to water source with adequate logistic support items large enough to sustain a group of terrorists for a prolonged duration. It is likely to have been prepared by local terrorists who operated in the region some time back. It could now have been planned to be used to revive the terrorisms and launch attacks against the security forces in the region. The recovery of a huge hideout of this magnitude has definitely dealt a severe blow to the terrorists groups and their efforts to revive terrorisms in the area”, official sources said.
Although no terrorists were immediately found in the near vicinity, the joint security forces parties continued to comb the entire area for any more tell tale signs. The recovery of this cache was possible due to synergised joint operations between the JKP Doda and the Rashtriya Rifles, they added.
