Sir,
This refers to the recent article by Dr. Arun Mitra, ‘Need to divest funds from arms to health care’. In his article author in a very simple but effective manner, highlights the present need of the world against arms race. Today we do not need arms for our survival but a clean and safe environment, basic amenities like potable water, effective education system and a health care system which is within the reach of all. We are spending million of rupees for purchasing arms and ammunitions but very little for the health of our people. No doubt protection of our sovereignty is important but health, education and positive growth too require attention as only then we can make this world a more better place to live on. Our Prime Minister is very effectively using world forums for drawing attention of the world towards unification against terrorism but this platform can also be utilized to draw attention towards the ill impacts of arms collection. Today there is need to strongly support movements like ‘No Nukes’ to lead this world in a positive direction.
Yours etc….
