JAMMU, Dec 2: Maintaining that the Kashmir Overseas Association (KOA) is associated in community service for last four decades and proactively after mass exodus of the community in 1989-90, Dr Archana Kakroo, president US-based Kashmir Overseas Association (KOA) today declared that her organization is ready to support more community upliftment projects in J&K provided the dedicated and honest people come forward for running them.
Addressing a function organised by Global Solace an organization of Kashmiri Pandits led by Pintoo Ji, Dr Kakroo said KOA which has been already providing service through EAP (Education Assistance Porgramme) and SAC (Save a Child) programme, besides it has played a proactive role during Covid pandemic in extending all possible help to affected people, is willing to walk extra mile to support youth empowerment in the camps.
The role of Dr Kakroo, who is serving a second term as president of KOA was highly acclaimed by community activists and people for her personal engagement in launching the community welfare measures.
She declared that honest and dedicated KP groups in J&K will fully be supported by KOA and also stressed on preserving the language and culture which is the basic identity of Kashmiri Pandits.
Welcoming here to Jagti camp, Pintoo Ji, president Global Solace profoundly complimented here for enhancement of scholarship from $350 to $ 500 in case of EAP and $350 from $250 for SAC. He also acknowledged her contribution in providing sustenance financial support to 50 families’ affected by Covid and poverty.
Kiran Wattal convener, Vishawa Kashmiri Samaj put a proposal of setting up of Skill Development Centre and complimented her for her extra ordinary job for the community.
Earlier she was given a rousing reception by community stalwarts like Dr K N Pandita , Dr R L Shant, B L Bhat , patron, Global Solace, Kiran Wattal patron Global Solace, Dr Sushil Wattal, Piaray Hatasha, Jatinder Kaw (KMECT), M K Yogi general secretary, VKS, and large number of women, youth and elderly people, Executive body and volunteers Global Solace Society and respectable and people of Jagti Township. A proposal for setting up a skill centre was also presented to her.
