Appreciating reservation to OBCs

Sir,
It is quite commendable that the State administration has proposed amendment in the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation, Municipalities, and Panchayati Raj Acts to provide reservation to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and Panchayats.
It’s heartening to see that the Government is addressing the issue of OBC representation, which has been a long-standing concern for many residents. The decision to base the OBC reservation on population, similar to SCs and STs, appears to be a fair and equitable approach.
In a democratic society, every citizen should have an equal opportunity to participate in the decision-making process, and such reservations play a vital role in achieving this goal. I believe that providing OBCs with a 10 percent reservation will go a long way in promoting social justice and inclusiveness.
I hope to see a more diverse and representative local governance structure in the near future.
