JAMMU, Feb 3: Former Minister and senior vice president of Apni Party, Ghulam Hassan Mir today said his party will ensure implementation of the constitutional rights in favour of the Schedule Caste community in Jammu and Kashmir for their social, educational, economic and political empowerment.
Mir was speaking at a meeting of SC community leaders and members that was organized by J&K president, Bodh Raj Bhagat at Party office, Gandhi Nagar in Jammu. The meeting was attended by senior leaders of the Party including general secretary, Syed Asgar Ali, Provincial president, Jammu, Manjit Singh and others.
During the meeting, the SC Wing president BR Bhagat highlighted the issues faced by the SC Community in Jammu region in the wake of development of their localities, difficulties to the SC Govt employees/ officials regarding their promotions, social, and educational status of the community referring to various areas.
Mir appreciated the efforts of the SC wing and made certain suggestions that were required to improve the functioning of the wing and to educate the SC community regarding the welfare schemes of the Apni Party.
“The constitutional rights granted to the Schedule Caste community should be implemented under the constitution of India whereas the Apni Party will make all efforts to get these rights implemented in their favour. However, the SC community remained deprived of constitutional rights in the past because of the previous Govt’s negligence,” he added.
He further said that Apni Party will give thrust towards the improvement of their living standard as well as to end the feeling of inferiority among the community members.
Syed Asgar Ali suggested measures that need to be taken for the SC community in the hilly regions and Party’s role in their empowerment.
While speaking in the meeting, Provincial president Manjit Singh expressed his gratitude to the SC Wing and insisted on them to increase the door-to-door campaign to educate people about the policy and programs of the Party. He also referred to the concerns of the Govt employees in Jammu and Kashmir who have been denied benefits of reservation in promotions.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting include- Prem Lal, Dr Rohit Gupta, Ajaz Kazmi, Joginder Lal, Lovely Mangol, Adv Sahil Bharti, Puran Chand Rahi and others.
