JAMMU, Sept 12: American Oncology Institute (AOI), ASCOMS Hospital Jammu today organized a free cancer screening and awareness camp in association with World Cancer Care at Community Hall Chakrohi, R S Pura.
During the camp, more than 300 patients were screened and examined by Dr Surbhi Kudyar (Surgical Oncologist) from AOI Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Neeraj Bishnoi, Regional COO AOI, said, “The key to surviving cancer is early diagnosis and prevention. With this camp, American Oncology Institute aims to motivate people and urge regular screening. Those present at the camp were Taranjeet Singh Toni (DDC Chairman Suchetgarh), Tarsem Singh (BDC Chairman Suchetgarh), Dr Monika Kotwal (BMO R S Pura), Dr Shalini Bhagat (Medical Officer, PHC Chakrohi), Manohar Lal (Sarpanch Chakrohi Lower) and Satpal (Member Chakrohi Lower).
Dr Monika Kotwal said that early detection of cancer is highly required in this area and they will conduct these types of camps in future. As part of the organizing team of the mega camp, Aditya Sabharwal, Regional Head (North) Marketing for AOI, Vigat Chandan and Shubam Kumar were also present along with the nursing and medical team of AOI Jammu and World Cancer Care.
AOI and World Cancer Care team offered free tests and services like Mammography, Bone Densitometry, Pap Smear, PSA, and other lab tests along with free Oncology, Gynaecology, and general consultation at the camp.
Aditya Sabharwal said that in its continued efforts to bring in the most advanced technology in Cancer Care to the region, AOI has installed one of the most advanced Radiotherapy Machine, HALCYON E at AOI Jammu unit and it will be the first ever such machine installed in the whole of Jammu and Kashmir.
