JAMMU, Nov 12: A two-day Inter-college Cultural Fest ANUSHTHAN- 2014, under the theme ‘Celebrating Culture and Festivity’ began today at Kathua Campus of the Jammu University.
Various Government and Private Colleges of Kathua district, affiliated to JU, are participating in the event. The various event categories under which competitions are being organized, include Solo Singing, Group Singing, Skit, Solo Dance, Group Dance, Music Instrument Playing, Canvas Painting, Collage Making, and Rangoli.
Around 250 students belonging to Rajiv Gandhi College of Education, Kathua, Surya College of Education, Kathua, New Age College of Education, Billawar, RS College of Education, Kathua, Guru Teg Bahadur College of Education, Kathua, Satyam College of Education, Kathua, Government Degree College (Women) Kathua, Lal Bhadur Shastri College of Education, Kathua, Thakur Dharam Singh College of Education and the students of main Campus and Kathua Campus, University of Jammu have registered for various events, which are competitive in nature.
The two-day cultural fest was inaugurated today by Prof R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, JU while Prof Posh Charak, Dean Research Studies, JU and Prof J P Singh Joorel, Dean Mathematical Sciences, were the special guests on the occasion.
Prof RD Sharma congratulated Kathua Campus for organizing an event of this stature and magnitude, which has provided an opportunity to the young students to interact and exhibit their artistic talents. He advised the participants to seek training in interdependent style of working and practice. Such platforms train students in unleashing their latent talents and groom them well in competitive competencies, he added.
Prof Posh Charak applauded the efforts of the Kathua Campus team in putting up an impressive programme, which has seen huge participation in its initiative as Cultural Fest. Prof JPS Joorel also appreciated the initiative of Kathua Campus in hosting ANUSHTHAN 2014.
Earlier, Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus, informed the gathering that ANUSTHAN 2014 under the theme ‘Celebrating Culture and Festivity’ is on the lines of the “Display Your Talent” events in the main Campus. She said that life is got to be seen as “Anushthan” wherein we transact ourselves each day with a sense of contribution.
“While ANUSTHAN 2013 was on the theme of Management cum Tech Fest, the ANUSHTHAN 2014 is a step towards the launch of “Cultural Festivity” at Kathua Campus as a yearly phenomenon,” Prof Neelu Rohmetra said and added that the objective behind organizing the event was to bring together the institutions in the region to interact and grow together.
The whole event was coordinated by the students of Kathua Campus while Dr Bhanu Pratap Singh acted as Master of Ceremonies for the inaugural function.
On the first day, events like Solo Singing, Group Singing, Skit, and Painting were held. The respective events were adjudged by Sunil Dutt, Rakesh Sambyal, Kapil Thapa, Bhupinder Singh and Digvijay Singh.
Tomorrow, competitions in events as Solo Dance, Group Dance, Collage making, Instrument playing and Rangoli shall be held.
