JAMMU, Oct 16: Former minister and senior National Conference leader, Ajay Sadhotra has alleged that anti-poor policies of the PDP-BJP Government has alienated the people of the State.
Addressing a meeting of prominent workers of at Makwal in Block Mandal of Marh constituency today, the National Conference leader said that poor and downtrodden are being ignored and this major section of society is facing the brunt of the Government. The poor are facing lot of difficulties due to shortage of ration and the prices of sugar have gone high. The purchasing capacity of poor and downtrodden has gone very low and people are facing lot of difficulties.
Sadhotra said that the poor, widows, handicap and old age persons are not getting pension which is social security for the poor. The houseless poor, downtrodden are living without shelter. Steep rise in the prices have made the condition of common poor people very miserable. The downtrodden are feeling further depressed and poor people becoming further poor.
NC leader said that anti poor and downtrodden policies of the PDP-BJP Governm-ent is further alienating the people and they feel as if there is no government. Sadhtora asked the poor and downtrodden to be united and said that National Confere-nce under the patronage of Dr Farooq Abdullah and leadership of Omar Abdullah is committed to uplift poor and downtrodden.
Sadhotra said National Confer-ence believes that real India is in rural areas and rural people should be given their due share and their rights should be protected. He said we are committed to give sense of belonging to poor and downtrodden to remove alienation and shall fight for their genuine cause and upliftment.
