JAMMU, June 29: Kuldeep Raj Gupta, senior leader, Bharatiya Janata Party, Jammu and Kashmir and former VC Pahari Board, expressed serious concern over the incidents taking place in the Union Territory.
He also expressed concern over the killing of SPO and his family in Tral area of Pulwama district in Kashmir.
Addressing media persons at party Headquarter, here along with BJP spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, he said that the latest incident of bomb explosion in the military area of Air Force Station, Jammu, is indeed a matter of concern, which should be thoroughly investigated and fool proof measures need to be taken to check such acts.
Gupta stated that anti-national elements are once again raising their ugly heads in the UT and they need to be crushed with a strong hand by the current dispensation.
Speaking on the valour of the people of the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, he said that nationalism runs in their blood and they were always on front to defeat the nefarious designs of the neighbour country. Their role during the partition in 1947, during the Guerrilla War of 1965, during Bangladesh War of 1971 and also during the period of insurgency in 1990s has been splendid.
He stated that various wrong elements are trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere and weaken the social fabric of the society but the people are resolute and firm in their stand against such elements. He stated that the Government should tackle these elements with a firm hand.
The Government should issue a stamp and declare holiday on November 11 in recognition of the commendable contribution of the people of Rajouri and Poonch districts, Gupta demanded.
Gupta also appealed to the Prime Minister to focus on the development of the twin border districts and tap the untapped Eco-Tourism sector of the area.
