Timber smuggler held in Surankote

POONCH, June 29: Forest Department staff Surankote today arrested a notorious timber smuggler wanted in several cases of smuggling.
Official sources said that on specific inputs regarding the presence of a notorious smuggler Badder Din, son of Aziza, resident of Dhara Sangla village, Forest team under the supervision of Divisional Forest Officer Poonch, Mohan Choudhary and Range Officer Surankote Nissar Hussain, sent a team of  Forest officials led by Block Officer Murrah, Javid Ahmed Rana and Block Officer Bufliaz, Sajad Farooq Malik.
The team laid down a naka and arrested the accused nearby his house. It is pertinent to mention here that Badder Din has been evading the arrest for the last two years. Two cases have already been booked under section 26 of IFA against the accused.
Apart from the smuggling cases, various complaints regarding the hunting of wild animals have also been received against the accused. The Department has intensified operation against timber smugglers and Forest land grabbers in the area.
