JAMMU, Nov 27: As the menace of drug is gradually griping “City of the Temples”, Team Jammu-an organization of young professionals, social activists, sports persons, doctors, journalists, lawyers, educationists and intellectuals, is going to hold a massive anti-drug rally tomorrow in which youth from all corners of Jammu will participate.
“It is a beginning of our campaign against drug abuse in Jammu. Our priority is to involve as many as youth in the proposed rally to give a message to the society that youth of Jammu are ready to shoulder the responsibility of making this city free from drug abuse”, said Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Chairman of Team Jammu.
“In a small initiative to make youth aware of drugs abuse and its effects on life”, Zorawar Singh, who is also Secretary General of Press Club of Jammu, said and exuded confidence that this small initiative will soon take a shape of big mass movement in Jammu region.
“A full-fledged survey was being conducted by the Team Jammu in past 8 to 10 months and it came to fore that despite being highly educated and qualified, youth of Jammu are falling prey to drug addiction as there are hardly any job avenues and employment schemes generated by the Government”, Singh revealed.
“The unfortunate part is that neither the Government nor any political party raised voiced against this ‘death trap’, which is slowly engulfing the youth and damaging the young minds, who can be utilised in the development and progress of the country and the State as well”, he said.
Giving details about the mega anti-drug rally to be held tomorrow, Singh said that the rally will cover each and every market and bazaar of ‘City of Temples’ inviting people to unite for a cause and their better tomorrow.
All Jammuites are appealed to join the rally tomorrow morning at 10 am outside Royal Estate Banquet, near Toph Sherkhanian Bridge on Akhnoor Road and give a strong message to drug mafia as well as those agencies which are duty bound to take tough action against them.
