JAMMU, Feb 27: In another concerning development at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal on the outskirts of the city, CISF authorities have intercepted a mobile phone from a detainee held under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
This marks the third such incident this year, raising serious questions about the security protocols within the high security facility.
Earlier on January 1, 2024, a mobile phone without a SIM card, an earphone, and an adopter were seized by the CISF staff from the premises of jail followed by the recovery of another smartphone from a UAPA detainee, identified as Habib of Haria Chak, Kathua, on January 10, 2024.
The recent discovery, made on Monday evening, involved the retrieval of a mobile phone from PSA detainee, Ranju Choudhary, hailing from Arnia, Jammu, as confirmed by SHO Gharota, Arjun Magotra.
“The Samsung Galaxy device, containing a damaged Vodafone SIM card, has been promptly forwarded to the Cyber Cell for detailed examination, indicating the gravity of the situation,” the police officer said, adding that further investigation in the case has been set into motion.
