JAMMU, Feb 22: A two-day annual book fair 2018-19 was organised by State Institute of Education Jammu in collaboration with Directorate of School Education Jammu, here today.
The fair, organized under the overall supervision of J K Sudan, Joint Director (Trgs)/ Principal, SIE Jammu, was inaugurated by Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education Jammu, who emphasised on importance of reading books and stressed to inculcate the habit of reading books amongst the children.
To update the knowledge of teachers regarding different pedagogical approaches as well as the development of diverse disciplines, the vibrant stalls with a lot of books on 30 different disciplines and general books were displayed.
The books ranging from textbooks, reference books, books on politics, religion and science were displayed in the fair.
A total of 26 publishers/ booksellers from the State exhibited valuable books on the stalls and the committees of various subject experts were framed to scrutinize these books. After the critical analysis of books in different stalls, the books selected will be recommended for enriching libraries and encourage reading appetite in young learners.
Students also visited the fair and showed keen interest in different books exhibited on stalls
Various dignitaries from Education Department including Personnel Officer DSE Jammu, Chief Accounts Officer, DSEJ, CEOs, DIET Principals, ZEOs, various Heads of Institutions and academicians attended the fair.
