JAMMU, Nov 8: Anganwari Workers Welfare Association (AWWA) today held a protest here in Jammu city against Government order No 268, which deprive the employees of ICDS scheme from all retirement benefits after their retirement.

A large number of Anganwari workers and Helpers under the banner of AWWA, Jammu province today came on roads and held a demonstration against this anti-employees order. The protesting workers said that the order has been issued without apply proper mind.
They said that the Government order No 268 dated 28-08-2017 is against principle of natural justice, as it denies any retirement benefit to Anganwari workers and Helpers with effect from January 2018 and leaves the workers to starve and die without medical treatment in their old age after retirement.
The protesting workers demanded the Government to keep this controversial order in abeyance and hold discussions with their representatives and make a good retirement scheme for them. They also urged the Chief Minister as well as Social Welfare Minister to review this order and make retirement benefits scheme i.e. payment of gratuity of one month salary for every completed year, retrenchment compensation and pension of Rs 3000 per month for the employees, who have no source of income being belong to weaker section.
They also demanded Rs 15000 salary for Anganwari workers and Rs 10 000 for Helpers, all social security benefits, pension scheme, increase in TA and DA, and 100 % promotion as Supervisor as per proper seniority list. They also demanded that they be declare Government employees.
