JAMMU, Feb 12: A protest demonstration was held under the banner of J&K Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union in front of Directorate of Social Welfare Department Roop Nagar today in protest against the failure of the Government in releasing the salaries of Anganwadi supervisors, workers and helpers.
The demonstrators said that they have been suffering for a long time due to the failure of authorities to release their salaries in time. Besides their other major demands are also hanging in balance as the authorities are paying no attention to settle them, they added.
Addressing the protestors Mohammed Gafoor Dar state president J&K National Trade Union Front (JKNTUF) stressed upon the authorities of Social Welfare Department to settle the burning issues of ICDS supervisors, Anganwadi workers and helpers failing which the J&K Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union will be left with no alternative except to intensify their struggle.
Others who addressed the dharna included Ratana Devi, Nagian Kousar, Abida Hassan, Baby Malik, Pushpa Devi, Lalita Devi, Agya Kour , Safia Firdos, Surinder Kour etc.
They demanded release of pending promotion list of supervisors, amendment in recruitment rules of Anganwadi workers and helpers with 100 percent promotion quota for them, enhancement of fuel charges and carriage charges in far flung areas, timely disbursement of salary and honorarium of the supervisors, workers and helpers, restoration of promotion benefits to the supervisors of Jammu province to avoid financial constraints, retrospective promotion benefits to the supervisors of Jammu with T A and other training benefits to them.
