JAMMU, May 14: A large number of Anganwadi workers and helpers held protest demanding revocation of termination order issued by State Mission Director ICDS, J&K.
Protesters amidst slogans assembled outside Press Club under the banner of Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association (AWWA), a wing of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. They criticized Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) authorities, for issuing such unjustified order through which large number of Anganwadi workers and helpers have been terminated while they have been working in the ICDS for the last more than 10 years and have got departmental training of Anganwadi workers for three months and also other required courses in the ICDS wing and are continuing their services till date.
While speaking, Subash Verma, State President, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh  condemned the callous attitude of the State Government particularly the concerned Minister for failing to see through the miseries of working class especially the poor Angan-wadi workers and helpers by terminating them.
“We condemn the order issued by State Mission Director ICDS regarding termination of Anganwadi workers and helpers”, he added.
“If the Government feels that proper procedure has not been adopted for their engagement then there should be some way out for this. Disengagement of workers will not serve any purpose”, he added.
He asked the Government to intervene into the matter for respite to the workers, who are feeling neglected now.
Verma also demanded probe into the engagement of Anganwadi workers so that the guilty should be punished, who are responsible for this decision.
He also demanded increase in the remuneration of helpers to Rs 10,000 per month and Rs 15,000 to Angwanwadi workers as the cost of essential commodities are touching sky.
