JAMMU, May 14: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmed Mir reviewed the ongoing membership drive of the party in a meeting of senior party leaders of Jammu province here today.
The meeting was presided over by the PCC chief while Senior Vice President Sham Lal Sharma, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Leader CLP, PCC Vice Presidents Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, Kanta Bhan, PCC Chief Spokesman Ravinder Sharma, Co-Treasurer PCC Rajnish Sharma, PCC General Secretaries Thakur Balwan Singh, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Manjit Singh, Ch. Shah Mohammad, Vikram Malhotra, Thakur Manmohan Singh, Namrata Sharma, President Mahila Congress Indu Pawar; Congress Seva Dal Chief organiser BS Sambyal, President DCC Jammu (U) Anil Chopra, President PYC Pranav Shagotra, President NSUI Neeraj Kundan, besides many other party leaders were present on the occasion.
Sham Lal Sharma briefed the meeting about status of ongoing membership in various districts and parts of Jammu province and the efforts to further expedite the process. He also put forth the feedback from various parts of the province.
PCC chief while taking review of the ongoing membership drive, asked the Congressmen at all levels especially at the grass root level to further intensify the campaign and make it a grand success. He said that Congress is the largest party in the country having its flag and members in every nook and corner of the county.
He also referred to the party’s year long programme in connection with 125th year of Baba Saheb Dr BR Ambedkar birth anniversary and said that Sonia Gandhi herself heads the Committee of All India Congress Committee (AICC) in this regard.
He asked Mula Ram who has been appointed Chairman of the State Committee to go ahead with the process for constituting the districts and block committees in this regard for holding programmes all over the State throughout the year. He said that the SC/STs and OBCs have always remained as back bone of the party in the country and there is need to win back their confidence into the party fold.
Mir also discussed the preparations for the blood donation camp to be held at Jammu and Srinagar in connection with “Balidan Divas”, the death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi on May 21. He asked the party leaders and Youth Congress to mobilize more and more youth for the camp.
