JAMMU, Apr 15: Anganwadi workers and casual labours  held protest demonstration in support of their demands at Press Club of Jammu here today.
A large number of Anganwadi workers and helpers besides casual labours under the banner of J&K National Trade Union Front  (NTUF) led by Mohd Gafoor Dar held strong demonstration against the Government, seeking regularization and release of pending wages. They alleged that many casual and need base workers have been engaged after 1994 in various departments but they were not regularised. Moreover, a large number Anganwadi workers and helpers are without wages for the last many months.
Mr Dar pointed out that a large number casual and need base workers have been engaged in Agriculture, Soil Conservation, Wild Life Department,  PHE, PWD, PDD, Local Bodies, Forest, Irrigation and many other departments but they were not regularised. He demanded that a policy be framed to regularise all these workers.   He also demanded that honorarium of ICDS workers be enhanced.
He also demanded enhancement of  Medical allowance of the employees and pensioners and release of 6 % DA in favour of employees and pensioners.
Prominent among others who addressed and gathering included Mohd Yousuf, Mushtaba Ahmed lone, Devi Dass, Yash Paul, Rattana Devi, Rubina Kouser, Mohd Amin, Aruna, Mohd Salem Wani, Mohd Bashir, Rajinder Kumar and Joginder Pal.
