JAMMU, Apr 15: Maintaining that return to Kashmir Valley is a birth right to displaced Pandits, All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) and Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) two old organizations of Kashmiri Pandits today said that the community can’t be dictated or directed as to how return and where to resettle in Valley by any group, political party or organization.
“Return to their roots and birth place i.e Kashmir is the inalienable and irrevocable right of Kashmiri Pandits”, R K Raina president ASKPC and K K Khosa president KPS told reporters here.
They said the return formula in whatever shape and form must be on the terms and conditions of the exiled community and not on the terms and conditions of separatist, fundamentalists, traitors, killers and perpetrators of loot and plunder. They said it sounds like a crude joke and rubbing salt on wounds inflicted on the exiled community to suggest it to go back to those areas where they lived before their mass exodus from Valley.
Mr Khosa said all the houses of Pandits have been burnt and the KP habitations have turned into ruins in many places while at other places shopping malls and other complexes have been raised on Pandits property.
He said the elements who oppose the KPs return are responsible for pathetically smearing black the composite culture and co-existence in whatever form it existed by hounding out innocent peace loving Pandits form Kashmir in 1990 and it does not behoove them to talk of or pose to invoke the so called age old composite culture. For full 26 years in exile, none from these groups ever talked about the safe, secure and respectable return of the exiled community to Kashmir Valley, he added.
Khosa also made a dig at Relief authroties in Valley for locking and harassing some migrant employees putting up at Sheikhpora. He said on one hand Government talks of return and on the other some officials are hell bent on harassing the community people putting up in migrant quarters on one pretext or other.
He warned agitation in case this harassment is not stopped once for all.
R K Raina president ASKPC while condemning the unjustified, biased and hostile stand taken by those elements against the return and rehabilitation of the internally displaced KP community which were naked and brazenly involved inselective killing of Kashmiri Pandits to terrorize them to flee from Kashmir and turn the Valley into cloistered theocratic country within a truly secular country.
He said it is unfortunate that just after an announcement plan to rehabilitate Pandits, the separatists and other fundamentalist groups gave call for a complete shut down in the Valley resulting into stone pelting and violent incidents at various places. Raina wanted to those be brought to justice who masterminded massacres of the Pandits committed rapes and indulged into secretarian killings.
He said the situation is not conducive for return as yet and before setting such a move in motion the Government declares Pandits as internally displaced people, ensure protection to shrine and other religious places of Hindus in Valley by passing Shrines Bill, implement PM’s package in letter and spirit, launch employment drive and enhances cash relief besides solving the problems of over aged youth.
