Never coming from a political family, Sushma Swaraj, only because of possessing tremendous amount of various faculties and above all being complete humane and reaching to the needy and giving credence and importance to public dealings, reached to the top position to steer one of the most important and sensitive portfolios of External Affairs for full five years. She became an ambassador and a symbol of the levels of humanitarian outreach to India’s diaspora solving the problems of expatriates. Her political career stretched over four decades and with recording enviable performance.
Not only being a super orator, fearless and straight forward in presenting her point of view with conviction, an able administrator and an outstanding Parliamentarian, an always smiling Sushma Swaraj was also a student of Sanskrit and fond of reading poetry. A bookshelf tucked in one corner in her Safdarjung office was meant for people of her constituency. She contested 11 direct elections and never lost. A multi faceted personality, in the passing away of Sushma Swaraj, not only the BJP but the country lost a precious jewel.
