Almond declines on subdued demand

NEW DELHI, Nov 19:  Almond prices fell by Rs 100 per 40 kg in the national capital today due to subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks on increased supplies.
Almond (California) prices were down by Rs 100 to Rs 15,700-15,900 per 40 kg and its kernel rates also eased by Rs 5 to Rs 570-590 per kg.
Traders attributed the fall in almond prices to subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.
However, volume of business remained extremely restricted due to tight fund positions after the government in a surprise move, banned Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes in a bid to curb black money, they said.
Following are today’s quotations (per 40 kgs):
Almond (California) Rs 15,700-15,900, Almond(Gurbandi-new) Rs 11,900-12,100, Almond (Girdhi) Rs 5,300-5,500; Abjosh Afghani Rs 5,000-22,000.
