JAMMU, June 30: With the start of annual Amarnath Yatra, the Administration has asked members of Rehri Association, Smart Rehri Zone, opposite Vaishnavi Dham, Railway Road here to relocate temporarily to another place till the completion of Yatra.
Members of the Rehri Association have demanded that they should be allowed to continue their business.
Association president, Umesh Kumar Gabbar told reporters that they will be ruined by the administrative decision if they closed their only source of livelihood till the completion of Amarnath Yatra.
He said that families of those having Rehris will be badly hit as they are dependent on day-to-day earnings from Rehris only while they were already ruined by the COVID lockdowns for around two years with no customers and no earnings.
“As all our savings were consumed in lockdown period and now when we are looking forward to bring our lives back on track, the administration has ordered us to close down our ventures till the completion of the Yatra,” he said adding that the poor persons operating in Rehri zone were hopeful that they will be able to pay back their loans that have accumulated over previous years due to the COVID period.
He said that, now, when the holy Yatra has started the Administration’s order for them to relocate temporarily will surely lead them to starvation as their only hopes were on the good sales during the Yatra period.
The Association has requested the Administration to reconsider the decision and ensured cooperation.
