REASI, Aug 3: Demanding reduction in rates of mining material, All Party Association today staged a strong protest at Mini Secretariat Reasi.
The protesting people raised slogans against District Mining Officer (DMO) and the administration. The protesters were demanding rationalization of prices of mining material with other district.
Claiming that mining rates in Jammu and other districts are very low, they said that the rates in Reasi should be fixed accordingly. Free mining material should be given to BPL ration card holders and rate list should be displayed at mining sites, they added.
Earlier the protesters assembled at Reasi Park from where they started the protest march which passes through main bazar, Ganesh Mandir Chowk, Bus Stand and culminated at Mini Secretariat Reasi where the protesters sit on dharna for two hours.
The protest was joined by DDC Chairman Saraf Singh Nag, Vice Chairman Sajra Qadir, former minister and DDC member Babu Jag Jeevan Lal , other prominent leaders from BJP, NC ,Congress , Apni Party , Sarpanchs and Panchs from various areas.
Saraf Singh Nag said that the mining rates are too high in Reasi and these issues are real issues which put poor and middle class people in great distress when they think of constructing a home. “Administration should solve these issues at the earliest otherwise a strong protest will be held in future,” he warned
DDC member Babu Jag Jeevan Lal demanded to give mining rights to Panchayats. The Association has served deadline of 15 August to administration to resolve these mining issues otherswise massive protests will be held.
