KATHUA, Feb 19: With rescue teams recovering one more body the death toll in yesterday’s accident which took place at Kardoh near Bani in Kathua district has reached four.
Police said that only four persons were traveling in the ill fated Alto which fell down into over 1.50 km deep gorge on Bani Basohli road at Kardoh last night.
The ill fated Maruti Alto JK08K-9425 was driven by Jarnail Singh, son of Abay Singh of Chandal Bani, and other dead were identified as Joginder Singh son of Khayal Chand of Dhaggar Bani, Hans Raj son of Duni Chand of Dhaggar Bani, Dhian Chand son of Shallo Ram of Dhaggar Bani. All four persons died on spot and their dead bodies were handover to their family members after postmortem held at Bani Hospital last night . The inmates of car were on way to Sheetal Nagar to attend the marriage ceremony. The car plunged into deep gorge when the driver lost control over vehicle. The Ex MLA Bani, Jeevan Lal, Ex Minister, Prem Sagar Aziz showed sympathy with bereaved families and appealed the Government to release compensation to deceased families. The whole village Dhaggar was in pal of gloom as four persons of the area lost their precious lives.
