SRINAGAR : An alert security guard foiled an attempt by unidentified gunmen to loot a bank branch in south Kashmir district of Kulgam.
Official sources said that the security guard noticed suspicious persons approaching the Bugam branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Kulgam on Monday.
However, they said the security guard, showing presence of mind, downed the shutter of the bank and locked it from inside. “The guard later raised an alarm, forcing the gunmen to flee the spot,” they said.
“The agitated gunmen fired two rounds in the air before fleeing,” they added. Security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the gunmen. (AGENCIES)
