ALC asks employers, landlords to follow Govt instructions on wages, rent

UDHAMPUR, Apr 5: Assistant Labour Commissioner Udhampur has asked all contractors, employers and landlords to follow the instructions issued by the Government of India for wages to the employees/workers and rent from such tenants during the period of lockdown.
According to Assistant Labour Commissioner Udhampur, Dr Ranjeet Singh, there were complaints that some contractors were not providing food/ ration to their labourers who are stranded in Udhampur. As per order no 40-43/2020-DM/A Govt of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, any employer, be it in the industries/ shops/commercial establishment / contractors, shall make payment of wages of their workers at their work place on due date without any deductions,” he said.
Singh further said that the employer/ landlord should not demand payment of rent for a period of one month and any employer is forcing labourers to leave the premises and not providing shelter, he will be liable for action under the Act.
