SRINAGAR July 24: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Qamar Ali Akhoon took review of different ongoing works taken up in Kargil district under Prime Minister’s Grameen Sarak Youjna (PMGSY) at a high level meeting here today.
Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil (LAHDCK) Kachoo Ahmad Ali Khan, Executive Councillor, Works and Power LAHDCK Ghulam Rasool Nagoo, MLC Kargil Aga Syed Ahmad Rizvi, MLA Zanaskar Feroze Ahmad Khan, Commissioner/Secretary R&B Tanveer Jan, Chief Engineer, PMGSY Sheikh Abdul Hamid, Executive Engineers and various officers attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that a whooping amount of Rs 138.04 crore was sanctioned under PMGSY for 38 schemes in 7 phases for district Kargil, out of which 13 schemes connecting 14 habitations have been completed while as work on remaining schemes are in full swing.
It was given out in the meeting that that an amount of Rs 51.25 crore has been incurred for construction of 108.59 Km roads length in the district under PMGSY out of which 37.40 Km have been macadamized till ending Jue,2012.
It was also given out in the meeting that the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for construction of 50.68 km new roads length in Phase 8th under PMGSY scheme in various far-off and remote villages, which will cost Rs 53.26 crore, have been prepared and a proposal sent for approval. Likewise the DPRs for construction of 100.87 Km new roads in Phase 9th at an estimated cost of Rs. 130.75 crore have been cleared by the STA and submitted to Government for approval, the meeting was told.
On the occasion the Minister said that the Government was extending the reach of enhanced basic amenities with emphasis on better education, healthcare and road connectivity to the people of every part of the State especially those living in remote and hilly areas like Kargil and Zanaskar.
Mr. Akhoon said that focused attention is being paid on development of remote and far-flung areas like Leh, Kargil, Tangdhar, Gurez, adding that various state and centrally sponsored schemes are being launched to ensure necessary facilities to people of such neglected areas are ensured.
