JAMMU, Jan 21: All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association (AJHLA) has appealed Governor NN Vohra to ensure the completion of the ongoing Jammu tourism projects within a stipulated time to revive the Jammu Tourism, which has gone on ventilator.
Expressing concern over the prevailing uncertainty in the Government formation, he said that ongoing Jammu tourism projects have not moved ahead an inch even under the Governor rule.
In a press statement, president, AJHLA, Inderjeet Khajuria claimed that initially people were hopeful of Government formation within days but if the present political crisis is to be believed it may take time for Government formation and the State has to remain under the Governor rule, and who will deliver in the present circumstances.
Elaborating the pangs of Jammu Tourism Industry, Khajuria said that the ongoing Jammu Tourism Projects like Artificial Tawi Lake Project, which could prove a breather for the deteriorating economy of tourism related Jammu traders, was started during 2010 but could not be completed upto December 2015 due to dilly-delaying tactics of the coalition.
The other ongoing Jammu Tourism projects like Jammu Ropeway Project, development of Manda Wild Life Sanctuary and reshape it for a Zoo of National fame, Multistoried Parking and Shopping Complex at General Bus Stand with the facility of Interstate Bus Terminal and development of Suchetgarh Border at the pattern of Wagah Border have also met the same fate at the hands of the Coalition Government.
Khajuria said that after the extension of rail link to Katra, the Jammu Tourism has gone on ventilator and completion of all ongoing tourism projects can make Jammu an independent tourism destination. He added that livelihood of more than five lacs persons is depending on this trade and it should be taken seriously.
He appealed the Governor to kindly ensure the completion of the otherwise stalled Jammu Tourism Projects within a stipulated time.
