SRINAGAR, June 11: Minister of State for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Ajaz Ahmad Khan today asked the collectors of land acquisition across the State to finalize all pending cases of land acquisition at the earliest and ensure that the compensation amount is disbursed within the shortest time.
Addressing a meeting of all the collectors of land acquisition for widening and expansion of National Highway in the State, the Minister directed expeditious processing of cases so that the land donors are awarded compensation at the earliest.
The meeting was told that in Kashmir province 7676 kanals in 59 villages are required to be taken over for extension of various National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) road projects out of which 6500 kanals have been handed over to the user agency and in case of rest proceedings are on. Rs. 418 crore have been received from NHAI out of which Rs. 350 crore have been disbursed among the land donors while as Rs. 179 crore are required to clear the balance, the meeting was told.
Similarly in Jammu province, 13700 kanals in 188 villages are required to be taken over by NHAI out of which 13100 kanals have been handed over to the agency. The meeting was told that Rs. 233 crore were received from NHAI as compensation out of which Rs. 213 crore were disbursed and a balance of Rs. 200 crore is required to clear the liability.
The Minister advised the collectors to comply with the provisions of Land Acquisition Act and complete the process of land acquisition without any lacuna. He asked the collectors to re double their efforts in this regard.
He asked the collectors to submit their red accounts regularly for an updated status of projects. He advised them to make rehabilitation a part of acquisition process so that the land donors are properly compensated.
Mr Aijaz asked the Revenue officers to respect the deadline of issuing PRCs, fards, extracts etc as put in the Public Services Guarantee Act.
Secretary, Revenue, Vinod Kaul, Project Directors of NHAI, all the collectors including Additional DCs, ACRs and SDMs were present in the meeting.
