JAMMU, Apr 29: Senior BJP leader and former Minister, Ajatshatru Singh has flayed the former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his statement on signing of the accession of erstwhile State of J&K with India.
In a statement issued to media here today, Ajatshatru said, the former CM should verify the facts before giving any statement to media with regard to the history of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir as his statement issued today, stating ‘We did not sign the Accession with India to see such a dismal scenario today’ is a total distortion of historical facts.
Strongly condemning Omar Abdullah for mis-stating of facts, he asserted that Maharaja Hari Singh was holding the sole authority to enter into Accession. “I would like to remind the frustrated former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah  that Jammu and Kashmir’s Accession to India was not signed by Abdullah Governments but it was signed by the then Maharaja Hari Singh for the welfare, peace and prosperity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Ajatshatru Singh asserted.
He said that all the reformatory laws were introduced in J&K by the Dogra Rulers especially during Maharaja Hari Singh’s Rule and the transformation of laws post 5th Aug 2019 has only further enhanced the scope of justice for all the sections of people in J&K irrespective of their caste, creed or religion.
“I advise Omar Abdullah to desist from making any such statement that is linked to history. It would be better for him to verify the facts before issuing any statement in the media as there is no chance of his party returning to power in the near future,” Ajatshatru added.
He said that he finds himself uncomfortable being out of power and sensing a defeat in the upcoming Assembly elections in J&K that has landed him (Omar) into chaos and frustration due to which he is making such statements without being handy with the real facts and figures. It would not be wrong to state that Omar makes irrelevant and false statements intentionally to befool the people, he added.
