AISF’s hunger strike enters 9th day, candle march taken out

DODA, Oct 14: The ongoing indefinite hunger strike of All India Students Federation (AISF), District Council, entered 9th day today. The students of Federation, who have been sitting on hunger strike at Old Bus Stand here, are demanding to start PG classes in Doda Campus of University of Jammu and Commerce stream in Government Degree College, Doda.
Today hundreds of students and youths took out a candle march from Old Bus Stand, which passing through different routes culminated at Shahidi Chowk.
A number of organizations besides educational institutions from all over the State have been extending their support to the agitation initiated by AISF.
A number of girls under the leadership of president, Girls Wing (AISF), Government Degree College Doda, Fozi Banoo, today joined the students sitting on indefinite hunger strike at Old Bus stand in the city. Besides a number of students from Government Degree College, Boys Higher Secondary School, ITI College, and other colleges of Doda are sitting on hunger strike in their support.
Besides the demand of starting of PG classes in Doda Campus of University of Jammu and Commerce stream in GDC Kathua, other demands of the Federation are appointing a Rector for Doda Campus of University of Jammu, Boys and Girls Hostels at district Headquarter Doda and implementation of half fare charges to students.
