JAMMU, Apr 22: President All India Jat Maha Sabha (AIJMS), Ch Manmohan Singh on Thursday made a fervent appeal to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to announce OBC status for Jat community of J&K from the dais during his Palli village rally on April 24.
In separate letters written to PM Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah, the Jat leader highlighted the demands of his community including grant of OBC status, revisiting the decision of Delimitation Commission on reserving all the border belt seats with dense population of Jats thus debarring the community from having a chance to represent community in the Legislative Assembly.
He said that only BJP leaders have been repeatedly voted to power by Jats from Suchetgarh and Marh constituencies and even the erstwhile Chhamb Constituency but the Delimitation Draft Report posted in the public domain has not only reserved the entire border belt constituencies but has specifically reserved three constituencies of Ramgarh (newly created), Suchetgarh and Marh robbing the community of its political rights.
He urged the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to de-reserve aforesaid constituencies for open participation.
