AIBCU recalls Dr Ambedkar’s role

JAMMU, Dec 5: All Execu-tive members of All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) held a meeting here, today under the leadership of Abdul Majid in which the problems being faced by the people belonging to downtrodden communities in the State were highlighted.
The meeting among others was addressed by M.R. Bangotra (rtd. CEO) and Prof. Kali Dass its general secretary. It deliberated over the achievements of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar the architect of Modern India whose death anniversary falls tomorrow.
The meeting said though Dr Ambedkar started a crusade for the rights of down-trodden and women in the country, they are still subjected to atrocities and deprived of their rights. The meeting said that the credit goes to Dr Ambedkar who created an awareness among the countrymen and he emancipated the  people of down-trodden communities who were the worst victims of caste system prevailing at that time. Even the women were considered as slaves but Dr Ambedkar broke all such shackles and the women were brought at par with men. Women later occupied highest position in the country and it was due to the awakening created by Dr Ambedkar, the meeting added.
