SRINAGAR, Sept 22: The State Government has estimated that crops worth Rs 3, 674 crores, spread over three lakh hectares of land, were destroyed by floods in Kashmir province.
According to an assessment carried out by the Directorate of Agriculture Kashmir, Pulwama district has suffered the maximum damage to agriculture crop. The district suffered Rs 1104 crore losses of the agriculture crop spread over 32100 hectares of land.
The major loss in the district was caused to saffron that has been pitched at Rs 778 crore spread over 3200 hectares of land. The loss to the saffron is Rs 14.10 crore and saffron corms worth Rs 629.20 crore.
Paddy crop worth Rs 171.36 crore spread over 16500 hectares, maize crop worth Rs 11.10 crore spread over 4200 hectares, vegetable crop worth Rs 113.85 crore spread over 3000 hectares, pulses worth Rs 14.56 crore spread over 2000 hectares and fodder worth Rs 15 crore spread over 3200 hectares was destroyed in the floods in district Pulwama.
Budgam district in Central Kashmir has been worst-hit as crops spread over 51,930 hectares of land were destroyed by the floods. The estimated loss to the crops in Budgam is worth Rs 552 crore.
Paddy crop worth Rs 247.20 crore spread over 25000 hectares, maize crop worth Rs 34.62 crore spread over 13000 hectares, vegetable crop worth Rs 169.54 crore spread over 4800 hectares, pulses worth Rs 41.08 crore spread over 5300 hectares, fodder worth Rs 17.85 crore spread over 3500 hectares and saffron worth Rs 12.13 crores and Saffron corms worth Rs 30.03 crore spread over 330 hectares was destroyed in floods in the district.
Anantnag district in South Kashmir has suffered losses amounting to Rs 374 crore to agriculture crops spread over 44081 hectares.
Paddy crop worth Rs 250.14 crore spread over 24500 hectares, maize crop worth Rs 41.69 crore spread over 14922 hectares, vegetable crop worth Rs 63.99 crore spread over 1766 hectares, pulses worth Rs 12.90 crore spread over 1733 hectares and fodder worth Rs 5.83 crore spread over 1160 hectares was destroyed in district Anantnag in floods.
In North Kashmir district of Bandipora agriculture losses have been estimated at Rs 161.58 crore spread over 17516 hectares of land.
Paddy crop worth Rs 104.53 crore spread over 9998 hectares, maize crop worth Rs 14.27 crore spread over 4787 hectares, vegetable crop worth Rs 32.57 crore spread over 965 hectares, pulses worth Rs 5.75 crore spread over 719 hectares and fodder worth Rs 4.46 crore spread over 1047 hectares was destroyed in district Bandipora in floods.
Baramulla district in North Kashmir also suffered losses to crops to the tune of Rs 386 crore spread over 8571 hectares of land.
Paddy crop worth Rs 203.67 crore spread over 20563 hectares, maize crop worth Rs 43.48 crore spread over 15980 hectares, vegetable crop worth Rs 85.79 crore spread over 2108 hectares, pulses worth Rs 33.41 crore spread over 4320 hectares and fodder worth Rs 20.16 crore spread over 5600 hectares was destroyed in district Baramulla in floods.
Ganderbal district in Central Kashmir suffered losses to the tune of Rs 154.66 crore spread over 16323 hectares of land.
Paddy crop worth Rs 86.97 crore spread over 8600 hectares, maize crop worth Rs 12.75 crore spread over 4373 hectares, vegetable crop worth Rs 43.89 crore spread over 1100 hectares, pulses worth Rs 4.62 crore spread over 600 hectares and fodder worth Rs 6.43 crore spread over 1650 hectares was destroyed in district Ganderbal in floods.
Kulgam district in South Kashmir where from the floods started damaging the crops and residential houses, suffered losses to the tune of Rs 254.12 crore spread over 26396 hectares of land.
Paddy crop worth Rs 145.69 crore spread over 16000 hectares, maize crop worth Rs 13.51 crore spread over 5428 hectares, vegetable crop worth Rs 76.10 crore spread over 2100 hectares, pulses worth Rs 11.86 crore spread over 1568 hectares and fodder worth Rs 6.96 crore spread over 1300 hectares was destroyed in district Kulgam in floods.
Kupwara district in North Kashmir was also a major sufferer as crops worth Rs 447 crore and spread over 39900 hectares were destroyed.
Paddy crop worth Rs 157.94 crore spread over 17000 hectares, maize crop worth Rs 40.23 crore spread over 16000 hectares, vegetable crop worth Rs 117.13 crore spread over 2200 hectares, pulses worth Rs 15.20 crore spread over 2200 hectares and fodder worth Rs 117.13 crore spread over 2200 hectares was destroyed in district Kupwara in floods.
Shopian district has suffered agriculture losses amounting to Rs 66 crore spread over 6944 hectares of land.
Paddy crop worth Rs 6.13 crore spread over 556 hectares, maize crop worth Rs 6.65 crore spread over 1479 hectares, vegetable crop worth Rs 36.09 crore spread over 875 hectares, pulses worth Rs 1.65 crore spread over 206 hectares and fodder worth Rs 16.46 crore spread over 3828 hectares was destroyed in district Shopian in floods.
Srinagar district suffered losses to the agriculture to the tune of Rs 137.56 spread over 5388 hectares.
Paddy crop worth Rs 29.25 crore spread over 2633 hectares, maize crop worth Rs 1. 6 crore spread over 572 hectares, vegetable crop worth Rs 64.56 crore spread over 1565 hectares, pulses worth Rs 0.59 crore spread over 74 hectares and fodder worth Rs 1.14 crore spread over 400 hectares was destroyed in district Srinagar in floods.
Kargil district in Ladakh region suffered agriculture losses worth Rs 34.44 crore spread over 11454 hectares of land.
Barely crop worth Rs 17.89 crore spread over 7456 hectares, vegetable crop worth Rs 5.51 crore spread over 306 hectares, pulses worth Rs 4.37 crore spread over 911 hectares and fodder worth Rs 6.67 crore spread over 2781 hectares was destroyed in district Kargil in floods.
