SRINAGAR, Nov 30: The Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K today organized an Agricultural drone demonstration ceremony at Shalimar Campus under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K and in the presence of Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai. Director Extension SKUAST-K, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Education Prof. M.N. Khan, Dean Horticulture, Prof. S.A. Wani, Associate Directors, Head Division of SKUAST-K, Head KVKs, Scientists of Directorate of Extension.
During the inauguration of the drone, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K addressed the participants and explained about digital and IT-based agriculture, the adoption of the latest technology in Agriculture for increasing its economic productivity, reducing environmental pollution and for attracting youth to agriculture.
He said that in the future custom hiring centres of the latest agricultural technology for easy access to the farming community shall become mandatory for promoting agriculture.
Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension SKUAST-K highlighted the need for its popularization among the farming community enumerated the benefits of drone technology particularly for saving time, money and energy, manpower and volume of fertilizers.
A live demonstration of spray on high-density apple orchard SKUAST-K through an agricultural drone was done. All the scientists, field staff and farmers on the occasion appreciated the maiden stride made by SKUAST-K.
