JAMMU, July 11: Director Agriculture Ajay Khajuria reviewed various schemes of the Agriculture Department such as Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna, ATMA, Farm Mechanism through Training Testing and Demonstrations, National Mission on Micro –Irrigation and Technology Mission during his visit to the villages of Doongi Brahmana, Keri, Sasalkote of district Rajouri.
He reviewed the progress of Kissan credit cards and facilitation process of the Department in food grain procurement.
The Director also reviewed the soil health services, Mushroom Development Scheme and organic farming initiatives of the Department. He was in detail briefed about these schemes by the officers of the Department.
Mr Khajuria impressed upon the officers to mobilize their field functionaries to provide on field awareness and know how to the farmers by involving representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions through better monitoring system. He said more efforts are needed to improve the socio-economic condition of farmers.
He also urged the farmers to make judicious use of water resources for irrigation purposes with the help of the Agriculture Department so that so that vegetables and other cash crops can be grown by the farmers giving good returns to them.
