JAMMU, Jan 23: The Government today said that Finance Department has engaged a consultancy/ brokerage firm- M/s Trinity Re-insurance Pvt Ltd to design a Health Insurance Policy product for its employees and employees of Autonomous bodies, PSUs, local bodies, universities and the pensioners.
Responding to the question of Firdous Ahmed Tak in the Upper House today, the Minister of State for Finance Ajay Nanda said that the Government has engaged a brokerage firm, M/s Trinity Re-insurance Pvt Ltd, to design Health Insurance Policy product for Government employees, employees of Autonomous bodies, PSUs, local bodies, universities and pensioners.
The Minister also informed that a Committee of officers has been setup to study the policy product designed by the said firm. The Committee would finalize the policy product keeping in view the medical requirements of the intended beneficiaries, he added.
He further claimed that there was no spate health insurance for the J&K Police personnel and there was no plan to extend this policy to the general public. With regard to the query of proposal regarding Rs 5 lakh insurance cover for the BPL families, the minister said there was no such proposal.
Legislators- Yasir Reshi, Khursheed Alam and Girdhari Lal Raina raised supplementary questions related to the main question.
