SRINAGAR, Mar 28: Army today said it carried out plantation of trees as part of their afforestation drive at Kashmir University’s North Campus in Delina area of Baramulla district.
A defence spokesman said the Army planted more than 1,000 trees in the North Campus in a joint effort with the Forest Department. “This drive is an endeavour by Army in collaboration with the Forest Department to augment the expanse of forest cover in District Baramulla in an effort to preserve the environment,” he said.
The Chief dignitaries present during the inaugural drive were Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal, Commanding Officer of 52 Rashtriya Rifles Colonel Rajeshwar Jamwal, DFO Jhelum Irfan Ahmad Shah, DFO, Jhelum Valley and Director North Campus, Irshad Ahmad Wani. More than 400 students & civilians were also present to witness the gala event.
Director North Campus, Irshad Wani said this effort would have a long lasting impact on the people as well as the environment. The students also hailed Army’s initiative.
