JAMMU, Jan 20: Two advance plastic surgeries were successfully performed in ENT Department of the Government Medical College here.
A 30-year old patient underwent surgery for tongue cancer in SMGS Hospital where in ENT surgeons under Dr Parmod Kalsotra resected half of tongue of the patient. The reconstruction of tongue was done by Dr Ratnakar Sharma and Dr Sanjay Dhar using microvascular free radial artery flap surgery lasted for nine hours. The anesthesia was given by a team led by Dr Madan Katoch.
Another patient underwent surgery for cancer of lower jaw and floor of mouth by same team of doctors. In this surgery, portion of lower jaw and skin was reconstructed using bone from leg (fibula) lasted for 11 hours. In this surgery, anesthesia was given by Dr Naini. Both the patients are healthy.
