Admission process for 4th batch of SMVD College of Nursing to start from April 1

KATRA, Mar 9: The 31st meeting of the governing body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, was held at the Spiritual Growth Centre here today and reviewed the arrangements being put in place for the selection of students for the Fourth Batch of the College, process for which would commence from April 1, 2019.
The meeting was chaired by Maj. Gen. Shiv Kumar Sharma (Retd), Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the governing body of the College; and attended by Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Dr. V. Verma, Dean, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University; Dr. (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Administrator of the SMVDCoN; and Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College of Nursing.
The meeting was informed that online portal for filling up application forms for admission for the fourth batch of the 4 year B. Sc. Nursing course at the SMVDCoN will commence from April 1 and the last date for submission of online application forms will be May 31, 2019. The entrance examination will be conducted on June 9 at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and classes for the fourth batch (2019-20) will start from mid July 2019.
While taking stock of the to-date status of the construction of infrastructure of the SMVDCoN, the governing body expressed satisfaction at the pace of construction of the upcoming hostel blocks and the link road to the various buildings planned for the college. The meeting was informed that the infrastructure will come up as per the envisaged timelines in consonance with the emerging requirements.
The governing body also reviewed the arrangements being put in place for organising Inter-College Nursing Fest ‘Tarang 2019’ which is scheduled to be organised by SMVDCoN on March 29 and 30. About 400 students from various nursing colleges of the State as well as the host institution SMVDCoN are likely to participate in this event.
The governing body was also informed about the various co-curricular activities organised by the College of Nursing during the past two months and those planned for the coming months.
It also finalised the criteria for the faculty of the SMVDCoN to pursue Ph. D programme in Nursing vis-a-vis the rules prevailing in the various other nursing colleges in the country.
While reviewing the action taken on the decisions of the previous meeting of the governing body and discussing the various agenda items, Chairman emphasised the need for undertaking such community-oriented projects by the students of the SMVDCoN the outcome of which is beneficial for the society at large.
