ADKPUF discusses migrants problems

JAMMU, Jan 2: All Displaced Kashmiri Pandit United Forum (ADKPUF) in its meeting here today held under the chairmanship of D N Kissu discussed some burning issues of the community.
In his address Mr Kissu appealed the Government to give minority status to the community and also demanded that in future the voting procedure for migrants be simplified by doing away with the present cumbersome procedure.
Prof G L Koul chief advisor of the Forum expressed his dismay over the despicable attitude of previous State and Central Governments towards the hapless community which has become the victim of religious discrimination and onslaught leading to their genocide, ethnic cleansing and exodus. He urged the Government to improve electric and water supply besides other basic facilities to Jagti township. Prof Koul also demanded shifting of mixed migrant school Durganagar from Bantalab to some other nearby place to avoid hazards of pollution from cremation ground.
P L Sudeshi president of the Forum stressed on protection of all temples and shrines in the Valley and demanded a probe into the recent fire incident of Jawala Ji Shrine.
P N Raina general secretary, Forum demanded reservation of three seats in Assembly for Pandits while S K Bhat another senior Executive Member of the Forum said that return and rehabilitation can’t be conditional to the goodwill of majority. He said no return is possible till the political empowerment of the community.
The meeting while accusing the election authorities of rejecting the M Forms on flimsy grounds to deprive the migrants of voting rights, said still over 65 percent migrants polled their votes.
