Srinagar, July 25: The Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today said that if people adhere to the COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB), it will decrease the effects of the possible third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement issued here, Dr M. Yousuf Tak, President DAK said that the Second wave of COVID-19 caused more morbidity and mortality due to high virulence and infectivity of mutated Corona Virus (Sars-Cov2) as compared to the first wave.
“However the second wave was managed in a more organised way given the experience gained during the management of the first wave and subsequent infrastructure build-up,” he said.
DAK said that with great efforts by the health and allied frontline departments and the active cooperation of the public at large, “we have been able to contain the second wave of COVID-19 in a much better way and better than many other states of the country.”
Dr Owais H Dar, Gen Secretary DAK said that the presumptions about the 3rd wave of Covid-19 and its impact will depend on the role which the general public plays now.
“If all people follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour and get vaccinated as early as possible, the possibility of 3rd wave and its impact will significantly be lower than 2nd wave,” he said,
Dr M Ashraf Mir Senior Vice-President, DAK said that the behaviour of people regarding the COVID protocol and the vaccination are the interventions that will predict the timing and extent of the third wave.
DAK has urged the people to adhere to the COVID appropriate behaviour religiously and get vaccinated as early as possible to defeat the possible third wave.
