ADDC Kishtwar visits Buddhist heritage site at Nagseni

KISHTWAR, June 22: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kishtwar Sham Lal today visited the Buddhist heritage site at Nagseni and Rural Haat at Paddar besides took first hand appraisal of the execution of work on Padyarna to Bhagna and Bhagna to Dachla PMGSY roads.
During his visit, he directed XEn PMGSY to expedite the pace of work to complete the projects in a time bound manner.
“Complete the left out work of installation of parapets and signages on the roads for the safety of the Commuters” he asked the Executing Agencies.
Meanwhile, the ADDC also inspected the monuments at Sai Draman and Dimgi area of the block Nagseni which are famous for the stone artifacts with written inscription in Pali language and a place where the first Buddhist religious Conference was held.
He directed the RDD Authorities to ensure the protection work at the historical place to prevent any encroachment and further damage.
Interacting with the locals, the ADDC assured that the district administration will take up the matter with Director Archives, Archeology and Museum J&K for the preservation and restoration of the rich heritage site.
He further said that these places have a great potential to attract historians, students and tourists and hence need to be preserved.
Later, the ADDC visited block Paddar and inspected the Rural Haat. He directed the BDO Paddar to make it functional ahead of the ensuing Annual Shri Machail Mata Yatra so that the local craftsmen and artists could showcase and sell their crafts and local products during Yatra.
