JAMMU, Oct 23: Acute water shortage has been prevailing in Old Janipura locality for the past over a month now and despite repeated reminders to the concerned authorities, there has been no end to the problem, which has assumed alarming proportions over the past one week.
“Though the water shortage persisted for past one month, it has increase over the past one week with drinking water hardly supplied for few minutes and that two after couple of days, leaving the people to suffer,” the residents of several localities of old Janipura said.
They added that they have made repeated calls to the concerned authorities but there has been no response. The authorities were not making any efforts to improve the water supply especially when the festival season is at its peak and Diwali only a week ago.
The people said even when the water is supplied for few minutes, there is no proper timing.
They appealed to the PHE authorities to look into the matter and take corrective measures for restoration of water supply in the area.
