Srinagar, Feb 22: The activists have alleged that there are at least 8 oxygen concentrators that are lying defunct out of nine existing concentrators including a dental X-ray unit at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Chadoora in Budgam.
Chairman RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat stated that the dental X-ray unit and oxygen concentrators remain defunct at Sub District Hospital Chadoora for last so many months.
“From last many months the Dental X-ray unit and eight oxygen concentrators out of nine are defunct in Chadoora Sub District Hospital. The causality section of the hospital has not been repaired after it got damaged in the devastating fire last year,” he said.
In-charge Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr Shafqat Rasool, told Excelsior that the hospital has got 8-9 oxygen concentrators. “As of now we have at least 4 oxygen concentrators up and running, including the dental X-ray unit,” she said.
She added that the films used in the X-ray were of ‘poor’ quality and were purchased locally. “The dental OPD is running and functional and so is the dental X-ray unit,” she said.
Dr Bhat has also stated that the laparoscopic surgeries were being undertaken at SDH Chadoora for last many years “but from last several months this facility is also not available.”
The hospital administration said that they have informed the higher-ups with regard to starting the laparoscopic surgeries all over again at the hospital. “The paper work for the start of laparoscopic surgeries is on as the existing machinery is defunct and it not suitable to carry such surgeries,” Dr Shafqat Rasool.
The RTI movement had also stated that they met with the Director Health Services Kashmir in this regard and apprised him about the issues “but till date nothing has been done”.
