JAMMU, Feb 22: Crime Branch Jammu has arrested one more accused in the popular case wherein many people in Mendhar area of district Poonch were duped of crores of rupees by a group of cheats.
The arrested accused has been identified as Nazeer Hussain son of Mohd. Shaffi of Dhanwan Morha, Chingus, Rajouri and he was arrested from Kalakote.
A case in FIR number 70/2019 U/S 420/RPC P/S Mendhar was filed in the case which is now under the investigations by Crime Branch (CB) Jammu.
Nazeer Hussain was working as driver of Tariq Mehmood, the main accused of the case wherein Tariq was involved in duping innocent people of crores of rupees by fraudulent means and was evading arrest for the last seven months.
As per the case, on May 16, 2019, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Mendhar by Abdul Karim and others alleging there in that Tariq Mehmood S/o Mohd. Aziz R/o village Chhugan, Mendhar; Murtaza Ahmed S/o Mohd. Bashir R/o Chak Banok, Mendhar and Imtiaz Ahmed S/o Mohd. Aziz R/o village Chhugan, Mendhar and others duped the inhabitants of Mendhar and its adjoining areas of crores of rupees on the pretext of providing different products with huge interest.
The investigation of the case was taken up by the Crime Branch on May 22, 2019 which filed preliminary charge-sheet before the Court of JMIC Mendhar against the six accused persons.
A handout of CB stated that the accused Nazeer Hussain is being put to questioning to ascertain the modus operandi of the crime and other aspects related to the case and investigation of the case is in progress.
