ACB nabs X-En PDA

Srinagar, Mar 30: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today trapped and arrested the Executive Engineer, Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA), Anantnag, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for passing the bills of a contractor.
In this regard, the ACB said that it received a complaint alleging that Muzzaffer Ahmed Dada, Executive Engineer, Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA), Anantnag is demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant for passing a bill for balance payments of the complainant
“The complainant who is a contractor by profession had done the work titled R.C.C Footpath Foundation and Boundary Walls work of Amarnath Ji Yatra Track from Chandanwari to Pissotop in KM 01 to 03 in PDA,” the ACB said
In his complaint, the ACB said that the complainant alleged that Muzzaffer Ahmad Dada, Executive Engineer, PDA is demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from him for releasing the amount of Rs 8,044,72 for work done.
Upon receiving the instant complaint, the ACB said, prima facie offence U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was made out. Consequently, he said, a case (FIR No. 04/2022) was registered at Police Station ACB Anantnag and an investigation was taken up.
“During the investigation, a trap team was constituted. The team caught Muzzaffer Ahmad Dada, Executive Engineer red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant,” ACB said.
The concerned official, the ACB said, was arrested on the spot by the ACB team. “The bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses,” the ACB said, adding further investigations were going on.
