ABVP calls on JMC Mayor, seeks support for students’ rights

JAMMU, Nov 21: A delegation of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Jammu Mahanagar, led by Jammu Mahanagar Joint Secretary Sunaksh Gupta, today called on Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Chander Mohan Gupta and submits him a 44- point memorandum.
As per the memorandum, ABVP is demanding the rollback of semester system, filling up of 6000 vacant posts of teachers in secondary and higher education sector, 50000 jobs to unemployed youths of Jammu Kashmir, permanent infrastructure for newly allotted 53 new colleges, independent level enquiry against JKPSC made appointments in the past 5 years and action against the Police officials who lathicharged on ABVP activists on November 13.
Mayor JMC assured the delegation that he will take up these demands with Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu and try to solve these problems being faced by student community as soon as possible. He assured full support to the student community.
Sunaksh Gupta said in the coming days, ABVP will meet with more members of civil society, social organisations and ask them to support ABVP in their fight for students rights.
The ABVP delegation comprised of Yashaswani Rajwal (Secretary, ABVP Parade College Unit), Akash Bhagat (President, ABVP MAM College Unit), Nikhil Parihar (President, ABVP GGM Science College Unit), Sparsh Gupta (+2 Schools Working Incharge), Akhil Wazir, Abhiram Chouhan and Anish Bhagat.
