Absconding wife killer arrested from Punjab

JAMMU, May 15: Gandhi Nagar police arrested a man, who absconded after killing his wife two days back in Nanak Nagar area from Punjab.
As per police sources, on May 13, a man identified as Vivek Sharma, son of Puran Chand Sharma, a resident of Jindrah, presently residing in rented accommodation at Sector 7 Nanak Nagar strangulated his wife Neetu Sharma to death over some family dispute. After committing the heinous crime, the accused escaped from the spot.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and shifted the body of the deceased to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where after conducting autopsy, the body was handed over to family members for last rites.
A case under FIR Number 114/18 under Section 302 RPC was registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and hunt was launched to nab the accused.
During the course of investigation, police team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station conducted raids in several areas and finally nabbed the accused from Punjab.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
